APRIL 2025 SATURDAY EVENING GENERAL CONFERENCE SESSION THOUGHTS
Always love me some Saturday night session of Conference. Perfect way to end an already fantastic day…and I just not only had a phenomenal sandwich, but also beat my son Ben 3 games to 2 in ping-pong, so there’s that…😂
Sweet is the peace the gospel brings, how true this is. My dad’s favorite hymn!
Man, the apostles are bringing it with their tie game this conference! Love Elder Gary E. Stevenson’s purple masterpiece! Wonder how many members of the Church will now have a spare picture of Jesus in their passports. When Christ is the cornerstone of our beliefs and lives, it can bring more harmony to the world. Love the higher and holier idea of Easter as a season, just like Christmas - and not just a one-day holiday. Trying to do better at that, myself.
"Our hearts are heavy as we imagine the Savior’s suffering in the Garden and upon Calvary, but our hearts rejoice as we envision the empty tomb and the heavenly decree, 'He is Risen!'”
…and from the young boy, “‘cuz Him’s Alive…” 😊 Indeed He is!
Amy A. Wright’s opening question that her son was asked, is a great one for all of us to address. Where do you derive your moral compass? The “archetype” of Jesus Christ. "If all of humanity abided by the teachings of Jesus Christ in the Sermon on the Mount, the world would be a better, more peaceful place." I’m always trying to improve my life as a “doer” and not just a hearer of the Lord’s word. When it comes to Jesus Christ, we should all improve on believing, belonging, and becoming.
“Propitiation” is one of my favorite scripture words…look it up if you haven’t already.
“Were you there?” Beautiful song from the choir sung with feeling and spirit!
I’ve mentioned this before, but I’ve had the privilege of teaching D&C 109 IN the Kirtland Temple. I will always LOVE that sacred section and believe in the promises in there, along with the Savior’s visit in D&C 110. I appreciate Elder James R. Rasband’s reiteration of Pres. Nelson’s invitation to each of us to read it. We find much-needed mercy in the covenants we make in the temple.
How merciful is our Heavenly Father? Boundless…more than we can comprehend.
Sergio R. Vargas - another young GA with a strong hairline and some great counsel. We can all return to the heavenly home from which we came…and like salmon, we have an internal GPS to guide us. Because those hooks of mortality are real. They seek to pull us out of the course of living waters that lead to the Father and eternal life. We are ALL important to God.
The concept of “worship” has been something that has been on my mind a lot in my life as of late, so I appreciated so much Elder D. Todd Christofferson’s closing remarks. The actions that constitute my worship, the attitudes and feelings inherent in my worship, the exclusivity of my worship, and the need to emulate the Holy Beings that I worship. Always looking to improve how I worship. True worship is transformative.
Lots to think about and process from all of today’s amazing sessions. Looking forward to tomorrow!
…a Ben wants a ping-pong rematch - wish me luck! 😂
