APRIL 2026 SUNDAY MORNING GENERAL CONFERENCE SESSION

After a yummy breakfast of Biscuits and Gravy (and probably too many Reeses Eggs…) - it’s time for Easter Sunday morning session of General Conference!

What a phrase from President Dieter F. Uchtdorf - “Today, we understand better why the Savior had to die.”  When the world is dark the place to go is towards the light.  The bold measure of the empty tomb is that Christ isn't just a historical figure. He is real. He is not confined to the pages of a book. He LIVES.   It is not about who He was but who He is.  We should tell more people about Him!

From Emily Belle Freeman - “I have learned that God allows mortality to do its work in us - and that includes both best days and worst days.” Testimony is built over time, day after day, best days and worst days.  As I look at my life - my testimony has been built from both the worst days and the best days and those will be needed for me to become with I need to become. And the Lord will be with me on both of those kinds of days.

Because of Jesus Christ, our best days are ahead.  Indeed they are!

“The Last Supper represents the Atonement of Jesus Christ. During that sacred moment, when we put all our attention on Him and focus on His atoning sacrifice, how could we not feel His great love for us?  Thank you Elder Pedro X. Larreal for that wonderful talk on the sacrament. Much to ponder and study.

The quote, “In coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost.” Needs to be shared even more than it already has.

How many talks have there been now where having a guide to lead you becomes life-altering? Such a cool little analogy from Elder Edward B. Rowe about avoiding land-mines. Carefully follow your guide and walk in His footsteps - a few steps behind. "Where he goes, you go. Where he steps, you step."  While the Savior is our perfect guide, we are imperfect followers. When you find a spiritual landmine, turn your focus on He who can heal you.

Jesus extends His hand toward us, please take it!  He denies none. No one needs to walk alone.

Oh, and there’s been some great window-pane suits this entire Conference.

I love hearing our Apostles doing exactly what they were called to do - to testify of the resurrected Christ.  Elder Ronald A. Rasband: “After three days in a borrowed tomb, Jesus Christ broke the bands of death imposed by the fall. With His Resurrection, He secured salvation from physical death for us, all of God’s children throughout the ages.”  His tender retelling of the story of his grandson Paxton is a perfect example of this.

"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." -Psalms 30:5

One important thing to remember is that these Church leaders aren’t immune or exempt from life’s trials and challenges. Their perspective and testimony comes with authenticity.

It is hard to beat 20,000+ voices singing “Rejoice, the Lord is King!”

I often relate to Lady, the dog of Elder Dale G. Renlund with the multi-colored concerns of this life that get so overwhelming and confusing, that I just want to crawl back into bed and cower. Thank goodness that not all matters are of equal value. When we focus on what matters most - Jesus Christ and His goodness, we won't be constantly distracted by all the other options.  And I love how he quoted like 20 hymns so beautifully woven together.

“All means everyone. If everyone, then anyone. If anyone, then even one. And if even one, then even you." 🎤

So touching to hear Elder Thierry K. Mutombo’s tender testimony regarding the loss of 4 of his 10 children and how he has his wife navigated and triumphed through those challenges. “The understanding of what Jesus Christ offers through His Atonement and Resurrection brings comfort, peace, and reassurance to all of us.”

So, no matter how dark your days are, please remember that Sunday will come if you faithfully keep the covenants that you made with the Lord.

As someone who struggles with “shiny object syndrome”, we are not just “shiny objects” to God. Elder Alan R. Walker reminded us that each one of us has a special place in God's heart, He has great hopes for us, the same God who called the children of Israel now calls us, still calls us to become His covenant people.   We are His peculiar treasure.

Great to hear from President Dallin H. Oaks at the end of this session. “I wonder if we fully appreciate the enormous significance of this belief in a literal, universal resurrection. The conviction that death is not the conclusion of our identity changes the whole perspective of our mortal life.”  Our doctrine proclaims the UNIVERSAL resurrection of ALL!! The resurrection is PILAR of our faith.  In this “toxic” time where people are constantly looking to disagree - what a beautiful message it is to remember to love our enemies. All mortals are beloved children of God.

When we see each other as Children of God... we can feel the love our Father has for us and can offer that love to them. We belong to each other. We are to treat each other as such.

Peacekeeping has been a running theme for years now - perhaps we should pay more attention to that.

Lots to consider from SO many fantastic messages.

And lots more Easter candy to consume - see you in a couple hours!
