OCTOBER 2025 SATURDAT EVENING GENERAL CONFERENCE THOUGHTS

Snacks have been consumed and I’m ready for Round 3 of this awesome General Conference!

That multicultural choir is 🔥!  Love how the new hymns are being showcased so we can get to know them better.

Jesus went about doing good.  What an enormous understatement that is. Everything that Christ did and does is to renew, another understatement.  All of us can have a new beginning because of Jesus Christ. New beginnings are at the heart of the Father’s plan for His children. This is the church of new beginnings. This is the church of fresh starts.”  Such brilliant statements from Elder Patrick Kearon.

Jesus gives us as many new beginnings, fresh starts, and second chances as we need.  I need them.  You need them.

THAT is good news, indeed!

I again request that there be a version of the scriptures that is narrated by Elder Kearon!

I’ve said this before, but Sister J. Annette Dennis looks like the unpretentious neighbor who would bring you a meal when you are in need or sit and talk to you for hours.  I’ve been pondering about courage a lot lately, so the story of the 100 year-old track star rang true.  Taking courage to step into the area of life is hard.  It takes great courage for some people to get up and face each day. As disciples of Christ, we should cheer them on and do what we can to help them.

“This is not the gospel of checklists but the gospel of becoming.”  I like that idea!

“Jesus is the Way” (Hymn 1045) was written back in 1920 from a church member from Tonga and has been the Tongan hymnbook and recently translated into English.  Such a cool song.

“Love languages” are an interesting concept that I have mixed feelings about.  But Elder Steven C. Barlow hit on some great points surrounding the concept of love. “How we recognize and show love is not always how another will recognize and show love.”  Amen to that!  That is one of the most powerful concept to navigate in relationships.  That said, God’s love is perfect, infinite, and most sweet - and He recognizes our numerous attempts to show love to Him through service, gratitude, and proper use of agency.

I’m sensing a strong theme of “Come home” or “Come back” between these messages so far.

Elder William K. Jackson is quite animated whenever he speaks.  He always sounds like he can’t wait to give his talk.  And he also has a strong tie game.  “Every individual in a ward, regardless of age or gender, has a multitude of stewards — shepherds — who are tasked with looking after them, with remembering.”  The power of counting and accounting.  Ministering and administering.  Both are needed.

Elder Neil L. Andersen doesn’t shy away from tough topics.  “The powerful compassion of the Savior in forgiving sin and in healing the wounds caused by the sins of others is a most miraculous manifestation of the love of God.”  He has the power to bring "beauty from ashes" to any suffering.  Sorrow in the midst of tragedy will be turned into joy through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

I feel a lot like what it says in 3 Nephi 17:3 - “Therefore, go ye unto your homes, and ponder upon the things which I have said, and ask of the Father, in my name, that ye may understand, and prepare your minds for the morrow, and I come unto you again”.

SO many powerful messages today!   Have a great night.
