APRIL 2026 SATURDAY MORNING GENERAL CONFERENCE SESSION
Welcome to April 2026 General Conference, my friends! Time to share my thoughts - unfiltered, in real time, and probably missing a lot of details, but here we go!
Such a cool explanation of Solemn Assembly by Pres. Oaks - I just figured out that this is the only the 8th one I’ve been alive for, but probably just the 5th that I remember being a part of. I remember specifically standing in my living room as a 13 year-old at the sustaining of Ezra Taft Benson. It was a privilege to stand with my quorum (and my family) and be a part of this historic event.
Dallin H. Oaks is a Prophet of God. Grateful and honored to raise my hand to that truth.
And we start off swinging for the fences with Elder Patrick Kearon - who has been a baptized member seven years less than I’ve been! And then he was sustained as an Assistant Ward “Cluck”. 😂. For me, being sustained into any calling is always such a humbling and cool experience. Sustaining people can often feel routine but in reality, it’s a pretty cool exercise of our agency to joyfully support each other in callings none of us have asked for yet are willing to do.
Kristin Yee always speaks with such raw vulnerability and tenderness. Families can heal through conscientious and compassionate ministering. “Ministering is not a program or checklist. It is who God is.” I think we look at it that way, we can stop feeling guilt and start feeling more joy about it. I think we are likely doing better at it than we think we are.
A small “Clark” (well played…by Elder Clark Gilbert). I have always loved the well-known title “Redeemer” and lesser known “Repairer” for Jesus Christ. Elder Gilbert’s experiences of those who don’t feel like they fit or measure up that he shared were so tender. “You don't have to perfect, you just have to do your best and Christ will make up the difference.” To those who doubt--as you anchor in the things you do believe, the Lord will help you with the things you don't. TRUTH!
“Softly and Tenderly Jesus is calling” is such a beautiful song with a powerful message.
Oh, and hopefully Elder Gilbert turned off his camera light or RIP to his phone battery for today…
I love that David A. Bednar has a love hate relationship with running. As a morning 5K walker - I appreciate the phrase, “Push on. Hang on. Endure to the end.” In a spiritual context, enduring is far more than merely persevering tenaciously to complete demanding duties or challenges. I’ve never connected the words “endure” and “charity”. Charity endured all things and is the very essence of enduring to the "end,”. We can possess charity, but ultimately charity must possess us.
Whenever I hear Elder Michael John U. Teh, I think of him as “Uncle Mike” from when I taught his niece in seminary several years ago. Loved his example of seeing the sunlight reflected off of a large building. “When we strive to follow the Savior, He will use us to bless others. Through our example and service to others, they will feel the Savior’s love for them.”
“A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” (James 1:8) A double-minded person is one who is wavering, indecisive, or conflicted. Someone who lacks commitment to a single purpose or belief. I appreciated the experiences shared from Elder Jorge T. Becerra on how the example of tithing and putting God first helps keep my eye single to God and putting Him first.
President Eyring seems to have a perpetual smile - even when he speaks of painful, lonely, and confusing times we all have. “Despite turmoil and difficulty, faithful Latter-day Saints in hardship across the world have flooded heaven with prayers. Turning to Heavenly Father in fervent prayer when the world seems chaotic is as old as mankind.” God YEARNS to bless us! Fervent prayer doesn't require lots of words or flowery language. But to pour out or soul and feel our heart in constant prayer. I feel that and have a strong testimony and God hears both my outloud and secret prayers!
Such a beautiful Saturday morning experience!
Now, off to start smoking the pork tenderloin for tonight!
