What You’re Looking for Matters More Than You Think

Right now, I’m sitting in an airport in Chicago.
It’s 8 degrees outside. 🥶
And I’m very grateful for a warm pair of B.O.M. socks on my feet as I head back home to a "much warmer" 20 degree Utah.
I’ve spent the last few days in a business coaching environment—thinking deeply about entrepreneurship, ownership, risk, faith, and the wild adventure of trying to build something meaningful in the world.
When I walked into the offices, the very first thing I saw on the wall was a quote from Dan Sullivan:
“Our eyes only see and our ears only hear what our brain is looking for.”
That line stopped me.
Because the truth is—we don’t always see the world the way it is.
We often see the world the way we are.
And that matters.
If we’re looking for chaos, discouragement, or fear—we’ll find it.
But if we’re intentionally looking for good, for truth, for God’s hand—we’ll find that too.
That’s one of the reasons we’ve created Book of Mormon–themed socks.
Scriptures. Heroes. Messages of faith—woven into something simple, everyday, and even fun.
A small reminder that goodness is everywhere… if we’re willing to notice it.
It’s also why I’ve loved studying Moses 6:63 this week in Come, Follow Me:
“All things have their likeness… all things are created and made to bear record of me… both things which are temporal and things which are spiritual… all things bear record of me.”
Even socks.
Even cold airports.
Even ordinary days.
Everything can point us back to Christ—if that’s what we’re looking for.
If you want to hear my take on this verse with a fun music-driven vibe, check out this week’s BOM-BITES episode on Moses 6:63.
Oh, and just a reminder—all BOM-BITES episodes are now available in one place on our website, anytime you want them. Just scroll to the week you need and you're all good!
Today’s simple reminder:
Whatever you’re looking for—you will find.
So choose to look for the good.
