OCTOBER 2025 GENERAL CONFERENCE SATURDAY MORNING THOUGHTS
Yay! So excited for a much needed General Conference! Thanks as always, for allowing to throw my fast, unfiltered thoughts out to the social media world.
Loved how Elder Eyring started right off and explained “Apostolic Interregnum” (which a friend mentioned sounds like a Harry Potter spell) with the Quorum of the Twelve leading the way.
Right out the gate - 93 year-old President Oaks stepped up with a beautiful “we’re moving forward as planned”, along with his brief, but tender tribute to his dear friend, Russell Nelson.
The organization of Christ’s Church is inspiring. I find such peace in all President Oaks and Elder Eyring just explained. We can have confidence in this.
Gary E. Stevenson’s tie game was on-point! What does it look like to be a peacemaker. Can we truly become a peacemaker when the world is in such turmoil? When hope feels thin? When peace feels distant? Yes, we can...and we must.

Repair and reunite
“Before posting, replying or commenting online, ask, ‘Will this build a bridge?’ If not, stop. Do not send. Instead, share goodness. Publish peace in the place of hate.” I have a strong testimony of this and constantly try to do this…and I LOVE it so much when I see others try do the same.
And…If there is one donut left, you share! True peacemaking right there!
Am I the only one that occasionally has Primary songs live in my head from decades ago? Tracy Y. Browning is absolutely right about primary songs teaching gospel truth and being a powerful force of faith…and they can stay with you FOR LIFE! “Primary songs can become a child’s first spiritual language” SO, SO TRUE!
“Dear friends, Jesus STILL wants us for a sunbeam.”
This morning, as I was looking ahead at the CFM reading for the week, I stayed around on D&C 112:13 - “if they harden not their hearts…I will heal them”. When Elder Ronald M. Barcellos (called in April 2025) focused on “examine the condition of our hearts” after his experience visiting a doctor after coming home from being a mission leader.
“The quality of our thoughts and words is a good indicator of the purity of our hearts.”
Elder Brik V. Eyre (coolest name, btw). “While our Heavenly Father consistently and lovingly reminds us that we are His children, the adversary will always try to label us by our weaknesses.”
“We need to seek validation not horizontally but vertically”. Such a cool statement of truth!
However much you are praying. Pray more. However hard you are praying. Pray harder.
The “God is in relentless pursuit of you” quote from Elder Kearon will be re-quoted for decades…and rightfully so!
Those who know me well, know that I fuss over words in the scriptures - probably too much. But I love how Elder Kelly R. Johnson (a forensic accountant, so he speaks with authenticity) focused on the word “reconcile”, which is such a cool word to study in the scriptures.
“To be reconciled to God means to be brought back into harmony with God, or to restore a relationship with God that has been strained or broken because of our sins or actions.”
“Reconciliation is dependent on mercy.“
And I had no idea that an unshaken cherry trees and ethylene would be so many spiritual parallels.
“Because” is hymn #1039 in our new hymnbook. Check out the words - so beautiful!
Because He gave to me ev’rything
He had to give,
I breathe, I see, I hope, I love, I live.
It's not an Elder Uchtdorf talk without an airplane story! Getting good at anything takes self discipline and practice - including discipleship. Discipleship takes self-discipline. It is not a casual endeavor and it doesn't happen by accident.
"The fire of yesterday's testimony can warm us for only so long. It needs constant nourishment to keep burning brightly." SO DANG TRUE!
“Your origin story is divine — and so is your destiny. You left heaven to come here, but heaven has never left you. You are anything but ordinary. You are gifted.”
I hope I look this good and speak this well at age 84. My goodness! Always such a cool experience to hear such passion and love from Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf.
General Conference always inspires me!
OH, and today is also National Cinnamon Roll day, so there’s that.
