OCTOBER 2025 SATURDAY AFTERNOON GENERAL CONFERENCE SESSION

Round TWO!  Here we go!

That institute choir is filled with some kids that I adore - many of whom have sat in my class and I’ve learned a lot from them.  Nice joy, guys!

In fact my son, Ben was like - “Hey, I played ping pong with that guy!”

Loving all the beards! 🧔♂️

As many of us know, last month celebrated the 30th anniversary of The Family: A Proclamation to the World.  It was written by Seers by Divine design to challenge sophistry disguised as truth.  The teachings of the Proclamation were revealed by our Lord Jesus Christ to His apostles then and now.  The world needs this document desperately.  For those whose family doesn’t look like the ideal (whatever that means), “do the very best you can.”  Elder Rasband, I love those revelatory, doctrinal words, too!

Seeing Chad Webb speak, was SO familiar to me.  He even sat in my seminary class a few times.  After almost 30 years with S&I, I had the blessing of sitting at his feet many, many times and have always been inspired by his words.  That man is a gifted teacher and administrator.  The Holy Ghost is THE perfect tutor!  The sooner we learn that, the better the teaching and learning experience will be!  He truly understands and lives this principle.

I remember interacting with Elder Jeremy Jaggi well when he was the Utah Ogden Mission President and was taught be him many times.  The altars in the temple and for the sacrament are emblems of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.  Each piece of the broken sacrament bread is unique, just like those who are partaking of it.  That “sacrificial altar” is a pretty special place.

“If the Savior is the great Connector then the adversary is the Great Separator.”  LOVE IT!

Elder Kevin G. Brown is also an S&I guy whom I’ve listened to a few times.  So pleasant, genuine, authentic, and so passionate and excited to be a member of the Church!  Even sat next to him in an inservice meeting and he treated me like I was a close friend.  He even told me the best food joints to eat at the next time I am in Jamaica.  Why do we have agency? To choose good. To choose Christ. To choose eternal life — again and again.  Choosing to believe is a wise and powerful way to use your testimony."

"A testimony is not given for temporary use…and should not have an expiration date”

IYKYK! 🔥

Man, this session feels really familiar and personal, having associated with so many of these awesome speakers.

The fact that Elder Gerrit W. Gong makes his own fortune cookies makes him even cooler!  I love Elder Gong’s candor as he speaks of navigating gospel culture.  “No one should sit alone in the Gospel of Christ. This includes physical, mental, and spiritual aspects.”

“Earth has no sorrow, that Heav’n cannot heal” is one of my favorite lines from a hymn we never sing (“Come Ye Disconsolate”, Hymn 115)

Maybe the person sitting next to us will be our new “fortune cookie friend”!

Michael Cziesla (another shoutout to the Utah Ogden Mission) mentioned how the doctrine of Christ and the law of the gospel are so simple that even little children can understand them. Don't underestimate the power that can come from simple acts, such as prayer, scripture study, and singing the hymns.  Big believer in this.  But don't confuse simplicity for easy.  Discipleship takes work!  20 miles on a bike to Church should tell you that!

The mention of both Green Jello and Funeral Potatoes is well noted.

I’ve always thought that “It was the best of times; it was the worst of times” is a pretty accurate description of this existence.  The focus from Elder Quentin L. Cook on “the best of times” is always appreciated.  “The Lord is truly hastening His work in our time. We should be profoundly grateful for the hastening which has and is occurring, despite these challenging times.”

In the last 36 months nearly 900,000 converts... that... is.. WOW!  Our duty is to accept, nurture, and serve all who accept the Gospel of Christ. To be one with the Lord, we must be one before the Lord. So, let’s make sure those feel loved and welcomed!

Christ's focus was not on the political challenges of the day. It was on the perfection of the saints.  BOOM!

I’ve said this so many times and I will say it again!  The future is going to be more amazing than we ever could imagine.

Case in point - there’s a multitude of snacks awaiting me.

See you tonight for Round 3!
